Listening Center

Here are links and descriptions of my favorite podcasts in iTunes.  I highly recommend all of these if you are interested.  I love learning new things, even if some of those things are so completely useless.    I spend a great deal of time in the car and these help keep me sane!

Anything Ghost – This is a guilty pleasure.  I am fascinated with true ghost stories and I love hearing other people’s experiences.  Lex Wahl has a soothing reading voice and his music sets the perfect spooky mood.

Austin Stone – This podcast was recommended to me earlier this year.  I have enjoyed listening to these sermons.  This is a great accompaniment to my own church’s teachings.

Clark Howard – This is probably my favorite podcast at the moment.  Clark’s motto is “Save More, Spend Less, Avoid Rip Offs”.  Clark takes calls and answers questions on all sorts of things such as finances, scams, traveling, etc.  I love Clark’s dorky personality.

Fat 2 Fit Radio – Russ and Jeff answer questions regarding healthy weight loss and weight management.  They are kind of stiff in their conversation, but they share great information.

Focus on the Family – I have really enjoyed this podcast.  Jim Daly, Juli Slattery, and John Fuller interview various Christians on many different topics.  This is a great resource to help deal with problems in a Christian manner.

The History Chicks – I love, love love The History Chicks.  They are fairly new, but I have learned so much from these ladies.  They talk about famous women and how they influenced us.

How Stuff Works – This was the first podcast I discovered and I actually listen to several different shows within the How Stuff Works umbrella.

  • Stuff Mom Never Told You – Molly and Cristen talk about women’s issues.  They are light-hearted and funny, but focus on sharing information and do not take sides on controversial issues.
  • Stuff to Blow Your Mind – Robert and Julie discuss science stuff.  Sometimes they really do completely blow my mind and I get lost in the conversation.  They are very knowledgeable and fun to listen to.
  • Stuff You Missed in History Class – Sarah and Dublina talk world history.  They are kind of dry in their humor, but I still enjoy the podcast.  I love history, so this is a great one for me.
  • Stuff You Should Know – This is by far my favorite “How Stuff Works” podcast.  Josh and Chuck are pretty dorky, but they are very interesting to listen to.  They discuss a huge amount of different topics, some that I’ll never need to know, but I’m glad I do!

The Village – This podcast was also recommended to me earlier this year.  I really enjoy Matt Carter’s sermons and it is also a terriffic supplement to my own church’s teachings.

North Hills Community Church – I also wanted to include the link to my church even though we do not post sermons on iTunes.  I wanted the link available in case you wanted to download the awesome sermons.
